As a Tolkien fan, I think it would be cool if I could live in a hobbit hole. (Smiles)

But the point I have in mind here is, I don't think this is what a "real" hobbit hole would look like. The impression I get from Tolkien's own words and pictures is that a hobbit hole would look more "finished," less rough looking than the one you've shown pictures of.

My belief is that wealthy hobbits like the Baggins family would use brick or stone for the hall and rooms of their hole. And then replace the dirt over the masonry shell. Then tile and wood panelling would be use for the inner side.
